Sea Grapes Awash in Color

I grew up in central Florida with a sea grape shrub in  our yard. You don’t see them in Tallahassee, but perhaps they are along the Gulf shores and I just remember. I love their large, round leaves with the thick, colored veins.

In the Keys, the sea grapes had their winter look of red and were just starting to drop their leaves.

What a show-stopper!

They do produce “grapes” which are edible and can be made into delicious jelly. I did not see any jelly for sale, or I might have bought it.
