The 400th Post

You know the cliché: time flies.

Well, it may be a cliché, but it is certainly also a fact.

Today makes the 400th post on this blog. When we began the blog in November of 2007, who knew we would have that much to say and that it would all go by so quickly or that it would be this much fun?

Thanks to Google Analytics that was set up for us a while back, we can see how many hits on any given day this blog receives. It will also show us a world map with dots showing where the hits come from, as well as many other tidbits of information. We have not had the Analytics for quite a year. It began on September 16 of last year. So this is close to half of the time we have been posting.

Since September 16, it has recorded 6,170 visits from 1,361 cities from 80 countries/territories on Earth . It does not record visits from other planets.

While the US accounts for about half, here is a list of the others, in the order of the number of visits:

Canada, United Kingdom, India, Germany, Australia, Philippines, Netherlands, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Poland, France, South Africa, Thailand, Greece, Indonesia, Ireland, Romania, Malaysia, Belgium, Finland, Singapore, Slovenia, Sweden, Austria, Portugal, Vietnam, Hungary, Czech Republic, Taiwan, Bulgaria, New Zealand, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Slovakia, Russia, Switzerland, Egypt, Denmark, Pakistan, South Korea, Serbia, China, Estonia, Norway, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, Peru, Ghana, Jamaica, Croatia, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Guam, Hong Kong, Tunisia, Israel, Uruguay, Mauritius, Moldova, Algeria, Qatar, Kuwait, Lithuania, Northern Mariana Islands, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Jordan, Bermuda, Iceland, Barbados, Costa Rica and “Not Set”---whoever those mysterious folks are!

We will spare you from listing the 1,361 cities! But the top three cities are Tallahassee (no surprise there!), Huntsville, Alabama (Thanks, Currys!) and New York City. OK, we don’t personally know anyone in NYC, so this one is a puzzle. But the Analytics show this is a regular reader, not just a series of individuals who happen to be looking for a certain topic and stumble upon Our Nature.  So “thank you, NYC reader!”

Thank you to all of you who enjoy taking the minute to check Our Nature, as it is our great pleasure to create it!

Thank you D and D and K for coming up with the idea for us to have a blog.

I'm curious how you do the tracking and how you loaded it to your blog. I enjoy your posts. Came to you via FC.

The truth is our son set up the tracking. Here is the website and I bet they have a help line if you need it.
