Hiking at Leon Sinks on Sunday, we came upon these conjoined trees: one oak and one pine. Two different trees, linked and sustained by the good earth, are now inseparable.
It reminded us of our current bi-partisan political situation. Each are strong and mighty. Each powerful, but different. Still, there were nuts at the base of each of these: acorns and pine nuts. And there are fanatics on both sides.
Oak and pine can both build a strong house, but not without some sacrifice on the part of the trees.

It's so neat the way they grew together like that.
