This seed blew into the truck on Sunday. Not really sure what plant it might be from. The slightest breath of air sent it sailing.
Radial and radical at the same time.

But you have to time it right. They are only open for a few hours a day.
But aren’t they stunning?! So very orchid-like.
A pair of red-shouldered hawks made a really messy nest high in an oak on our school grounds; in the picture below, you can just make out the fuzzy head of one of their offspring.
Maybe ten feet from that tree, a hummingbird sits on her nest. As can be guessed, hummingbird nests are really quite small. This is a tight and tidy little nest, held together with spider web.
If you think about it, being under the protection of the hawk parents is not such a bad idea and the hummingbird would not make for hawks the equivalent of a goldfish cracker for us.
I received a lovely bouquet of flowers for my birthday this weekend. We set them on the table over night. In the morning, we discovered there was a little tree frog in the lily that had opened during the night.
Surprise!
Well, I did it!
I finally got the kayak out of the garage and took it out and our older son taught me how to handle it. He said it handles very well. It actually has a lot of wiggle and lean room before it tips.
I had only been in a kayak once before and then only to paddle a small circle by a landing. I still need a lot of practice to learn to push----not pull. (I will be hearing that in my sleep!) A trip around the lake had me whipped!
Last Saturday, B and I went up to Thomasville, Georgia for the Rose Festival. The parade had already taken place before Saturday but the activities in the park were interesting.
Our first stop was the chicken show. What? You’ve never been to a chicken show or even heard of one?? Well, actually, neither had we.
It was informative. The guy in the hat and overalls wore a microphone and told those gathered all kinds of facts about chickens.
The idea was to drum up business for their “have your picture made with a chicken” booth.
After all this chicken talk, we strolled over to check out this cool booth. Some creative soul transformed a VW into a smoker grill. They were cooking—what else?—beetle burgers.
We went to the rose show. Such variety under one large tent!
From there we went to the official town rose garden .
The afternoon had turned quite warm. The spacious rose garden gazebo provided the perfect place to rest a bit and enjoy the gentle breeze.
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
Just Rosy!
