This Rat Snake Lost His Hiss

We came upon this smallish, gray rat snake on our walk around the neighborhood. We thought at first it was just chilly ....


but, no, it was rigor mortis instead: dead instead.

    Wait, if it's dead, how did it climb up a tree like it shows on the second picture? Anyway, poor rat snakes. They're one of my favorites because they're harmless. And they don't attack when threatened, they freeze! Source: ratsnake.org
