but, no, it was rigor mortis instead: dead instead.

Wait, if it's dead, how did it climb up a tree like it shows on the second picture? Anyway, poor rat snakes. They're one of my favorites because they're harmless. And they don't attack when threatened, they freeze! Source: ratsnake.org
