We made a quick trip down to the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge Saturday morning. It was misting part of the time and when it wasn't, we walked a bit. We saw a few gators, two deer, two bald eagles, two osprey and quite a few wading birds but not much in the way of shore birds and no ducks. Not sure where they are. This handsome great blue heron was fishing in the cattails and reeds.
We looked for the baby gators at the visitors center but saw only one of the older babies. This deck is where we stood before to observe them and their mama.
Our son noticed the pattern under the deck. The drip line from the spaces between the deck boards reflects the radial and concentric design of the deck.
Some of nature's more discreet artwork.
